Rockland, Ontonagon Co., MI
August 11, 2006
Friday’s trips were both at southernmost point of the area covered by the Copper Country Mineral Retreat.
The Minesota Mine (yes, that is the correct spelling) is easy to reach. It’s located on M-26, 7 miles after M-26 and M-38 separate. There is a sign marking it, and the dump can be seen across a small pond on the right side of the road.
The coordinates are 46 deg. 43.796’N, -89 deg. 10.496’W.

The dump area extends further along the dirt road on the right of the picture.
I got a few pieces of copper, mostly as sheets and veins that might be difficult to free up. There didn’t appear to be a lot of micro material.
On to the next field trip, the Rockland Mine.
